Rat Control in Prospect, Kentucky

Prospect grew up around a railroad station built in the 1870s and stayed mostly farmland until the 1960s, when large subdivisions began going in. It incorporated in 1974. The city sits between the Ohio River, US 42 and Harrods Creek, and a small piece crosses into Oldham County. Norton Commons, a big walkable development of close-set houses and shops, covers nearly 600 acres nearby.

Big houses, river and creek

Large homes with three-car garages, finished basements and walkout lower levels are common here. Lots back onto woods, golf course edges and the creek. Mice and rats use those edges, and the river and creek give rats water and cover. Garages, walkout basement doors and the roofline are where most of the work ends up. See rat proofing and attic cleanup.

Pool houses, detached garages and barns on the bigger lots are easy places for rodents to settle before trying the house. Ask the tech to include them.

  • Check walkout basement door sweeps
  • Store pool and patio cushions off the floor
  • Keep feed and seed in metal cans
